Had the Hawks blogger tell me Schneider and Crawford are the same and many people outside of the hawks org think this just curious if anyone can pull some stats up for that as I have never heard anyone mention Crawford in the tier of goalies that Cory is mentioned in.

Well if we have to rush the process because of Schneider's age then why not trade him to say Calgary that includes the 6th overall pick and Gillies. And get another goalie in a trade for this year.

The way I see it, we don't need another goalie if we trade Schneider. Wedgewood and Kinkaid can fight it out while Blackwood develops for another year or two.

That's because he isn't. He's obviously more decorated but that's easy to imagine when you have that caliber of team in front of you. Furthermore, Schneider has a career .925 save % and a 2.16 GAA while Crawford has a .918 and 2.34 GAA

Going to be interesting to see how long Cory stays an elite goalie. He's been relatively under used when compared to other elite goalies. Seems like some of the other elite goalies have either played more games at the NHL level at this point in time or have gone through some more than minor injury issues.

His body in terms of usage is probably more around 28 years old in my opinion but of course it's really about how he feels and how resilient his body will be moving forward. Cory has 270 games played (non playoffs) in the NHL and he's 30. Carey Price for example has 447 (non playoffs) and is 2 years younger than Cory. Tukka has 330 (non playoffs) and is a year younger.

One of the only comparable goalies I see would be Bishop because he's 29 turning 30 soon and has 231 (non playoffs) but has widely known injuries the past few seasons.

Obviously games played isn't a given way to project anything moving forward, but it's certainly an interesting factor to take into consideration

If only there were some sort of rumor linking the devils to a specific FA apart from the erikkson report a while back... The offseason has been slow... Their hasnt even been a RFA resigned.. I hope the wheels to the devils offseason start turning soon. Something tells me that if devils bring anyone onboard, it will someone in the 25-30 range... Boedker okposo or a trade.. Apart from that, it will be 32-34 mid tier guys like stempniak parenteau or a hudler.. Guys willing to take a one year contract to raise their stock... It doesnt really matter, i just hope rumors and links start popping soon.. The devils arent even listed on anyone in the rumor chart.

That would be the worst thing. Stamkos rejected 8.5 from TB. We would have to sign him to like 12-13 and that kind of money for a guy that would score 70 points on NJ would not be ideal.

I think the Devils should trade Schneider to Dallas for Nichushkin+. They could probably get their first round this year, and fail next year with Kinkaid and Wedgewood (or maybe even succeed).

Worst that could happen? They get a better draft pick next year. Really, I think it would be the right move. NJ doesn't have any franchise talent to build around... they only have pieces you would build around franchise talent.

Every team that's won the cup in the last ten years is built around franchise talents (most of them gotten top 3 overall). Dallas' time is now, and our time is anything but now... clearly. I love some of our players, but they're not franchise talents that can carry the team by themselves.

I would only trade Schneider to either Calgary or Edmonton. With their 1st included. And Since Calgary doesn't have a goalie and could use Schneider more then us, that could work.

Then, I wouldn't mind taking Lethonen or Niemi off Dallas' hands because they want to trade one of them and maybe get someone like D!ckinson as compensation.

I love Schnieder... He's a top goalie and great team guy. But I agree that he should be traded to get much needed offensive help. Trade him to Edm for RNH. Not sure if we could get a pick on top of RNH.

Rather than trade schnieder to edmonton, just trade Larsson to the oilers for the 4th pick. With the 4th and 11th pick, the rebuild moves faster, and we keep a top tier goaltender. Plus the devils have a boat load of money to get a defenseman to replace Larsson until santini is ready to take over.

I'd go with the center, but RNH, to me has less value then Schneider.

Sanitni isn't a guarantee. And the rebuild wouldn't move faster, you'll losing a 23 year old top pairing defensemen. And there are no defensemen on the right side that you could get to replace him. Yandle is a left side defensemen. Schneider's older and the Devils should be looking to build long term, not for 5-6 years.

I know this is going to sound like a swede thing, but do you think it is possible Larsson found his game because he played all season with andy greene? Look at the facts, Mark Fayne rode a year of playing with greene, to a big money contract, Last season when severson played with him, severson was the future and Larsson spent half the season in the press box. This season Larsson plays with Greene, and finds his game, while Severson spends time in the press box, Coincidence?

Larsson was good whether he was with Greene or not. And Severson was in the press box because he made mistakes and Hynes didn't like his cockiness to begin training camp. And Larsson found his game in the 2nd half of last season not this year. And Fayne wasn't as good as Larsson has been. And I think Fayne was on the 2nd pair not 1st with Greene.

You could try it but neither of those guys look like NHL starters to me.

Blackwood could be more the two years away.

But I'm not apposed to trading Schnieder if the return is big enough. Just expect we'd need a plan B beyond who's in the organization.

Oilers signed Talbot so I doubt they are in the goalie market. Flames are. Would gladly give you the #6, Hickey & Wideman(we need the cap help)for Schneider.

I thought since Dallas wants to get rid of one of Lehtonen or Niemi, we might be able to get an asset along with taking one of them like D!ckinson for example.
